- There are two meetings this evening at the Cherokee County Admin Complex with time allotted for citizens to speak. At 6 p.m., the Board of Commissioners is holding its regular meeting with time noted to hear comments from the public about a section of Linden Lane that's been abandoned in the VCCI community. If you have a stake in this item, you can see the agenda here. At 7 p.m., the Planning Commission is holding a public hearing with a handful of pretty standard rezoning requests, aside from two items that involve very large portions of land. There is a request for the rezoning of 75.32 acres on Reinhardt College Parkway to allow for construction of a single-family, detached-home subdivision and another request for 16.763 acres currently zoned for agriculture to be rezoned for the construction of a special event facility. If you'd like to be heard on these or any items on the agenda, you can find the official Rules of Procedure here. (Cherokee County Calendar)
- The window for the annual K - 12th grade, new student enrollment is open today for children attending a Cherokee County School District (CCSD) school. The pre-k lottery will open later this month, running from March 20 - 31, but be sure to get your pre-k registration done as early as you can, the waitlist can get very long. You can read more about kindergarten and new student enrollment here. (CCSD News)
