Here are the top three stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:

  1. The Cherokee Board of Commissioners is holding its regular meeting today at 6 p.m. The meeting agenda lists many items, including the seeking of approval for the purchase of two Ford Police Interceptors for the Marshal's Office and a resolution establishing a Growth Boundary Agreement with Holly Springs. The meeting will take place at the Cherokee Admin Complex, Cherokee Hall, 1130 Bluffs Parkway in Canton. The Planning Commission meets tonight as well for a public hearing at 7 p.m. at the Cherokee Admin Complex. The agenda for the meeting is brief and consists of just a few rezoning requests. The public hearing calendar for 2023 is also set to be adopted this evening. (Cherokee County Meeting Calendar)
  2. Creekland Middle School in Canton won first place in the Cherokee County School District (CCSD) Middle School Academic Bowl — its second winning year in a row! The academic bowl questions challenge the teams' knowledge across many subjects, including history, literature, science, fine arts, current events, sports and popular culture. The runner-up this year was Woodstock's Mill Creek Middle School, and in third place was Canton's Teasley Middle School. Winning the academic bowl qualifies the team for the regional competition. 3. Bryce Leatherwood, a Dean Rusk Middle School alumni and recent Georgia Southern graduate, has been appearing on the hit TV show "The Voice" since September 20. Make sure you catch the show this week as he performs in The Knockout episodes this week. The show airs on Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC and Peacock at 8 p.m. And if you see him in the Today in Woodstock-Towne Lake section one day, don't be surprised, he performs at MadLife from time to time.
