  1. After placing third in his group at the 2019 “Jeopardy! Teen Tournament,” a local Creekview HS graduate is heading back to the game February. Justin Bolsen, currently a freshman at Browne University, will be one of 27 college-aged contestants brought back to compete in the new “Jeopardy! High School Reunion Tournament.” The winner will receive $100,000 and advance to the 2023 “Tournament of Champions.” You can catch the competition from February 20 - March 9. 2. A water main break caused a shutdown on Bells Ferry Road on Saturday morning. The break caused the roadway shoulder to collapse, and the stretch of road between North Victoria Road and the Little River Marina was closed to through traffic. There was a quick response to the issue - water was restored to the area and the road was back open before noon. (Atlanta News First and Cherokee Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
  3. If you'd like to honor the loss of a cherished pet, the Cherokee County Animal Shelter is currently accepting donations for its annual lantern ceremony. This year, the lanterns will be displayed on the shelter's lobby ceiling during the Lunar New Year, through the beginning of February. You can have your pet memorialized on a lantern by sending your donation through the mail, heading over to the shelter in person or by using PayPal through the link on their website. If you do use PayPal, please email the shelter at shelterfriends@gmail.com to let them know the name you would like on your lantern. (Cherokee County Animal Shelter via Facebook)
