Here are the top four stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:

  1. Cherokee County District Attorney Shannon Wallace has had a very impressive career, to include her new move to Superior Court Judge. Early in her career, Wallace worked as a prosecutor until her rise to Chief Assistant District Attorney. In 2012, she made history as the first female to be elected a Cherokee County DA. Wallace will now serve as a judge in our Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit, and Susan Treadaway will serve as the acting DA until a replacement is appointed to complete Wallace's current term, ending in 2024. 2. Vendor applications are now being accepted for the 2023 Farm. Fresh. Market. season. You can find the application here, or you can head down to the Visitors Center on Main Street to grab a paper copy. If you have friends or family that would like to showcase their produce at the market, please pass the application along - the more, the merrier. The 2023 season will start on April 22 and end on December 30, and the market will be located on Market Street as usual with Saturday 8:30 a.m. - noon operating hours. Vendors will be selected in early March, so all applications must be in before the end of February. Please click the link to see a list of vendor requirements and produce regulations. You can reach out to Kyle Bennett for more information by phone at 770-924-0406 or by email at kbennett@woodstockga.gov. (Visit Woodstock)
  3. The Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority (CCWSA) has raised their water and sewer base charges by $2. The volumetric charges will see base rates of $12 for under 1,000 gallons, $13.15 for 1,000 gallons and $14.30 for 2,ooo gallons. Additional changes in the base rate will apply for residents using more than 2,000 gallons, irrigation use and commercial customers. Regarding sewage services, there will also be a $2 base charge increase and similar volumetric charge alterations. The changes will go into effect on April 1, and customers will be notified for the next two months via their billing notices about the rate increases. (Subscription: Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
  4. The Cherokee Sheriff's Office and Canton Police Department have found and brought in the subject of three separate warrants related to theft and identity fraud. Official charges against Ryan Kenneth Adams, 33, include three felony counts of financial identity fraud and two counts of theft by deception, stemming from a December 20 warrant from the Sheriff's Office where the subject is suspected of taking in over $100,000 in fraudulent payments, a December 21 warrant accusing the man of taking over $130,000 in fraudulent payments and a January 24 warrant out of Canton accusing the man of taking in over $250,000.
