Here are the top three stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:
- The neighbor who initiated lifesaving efforts in helping his neighbors escape a house fire on Saturday spoke about the incident to Patch yesterday. Chuck Smith, a longtime resident of Woodstock, jumped into action late that night after hearing a smoke alarm coming from outside his house. After running out, cellphone in hand, he saw two of his neighbors calling for help from the house across the street. As he got closer, he saw fire and that's when the surrounding community joined in the rescue. One neighbor brought over a ladder, Smith brought it to the house for the couple to climb down and others brought warm jackets, water and pizza. What an amazing group effort from an amazing community. No one was injured in the fire, and collections are underway to help the couple rebound from their losses. (Woodstock-Towne Lake Patch)
- A rollover crash on I-575 shut down the left lane of the northbound side yesterday afternoon. The accident was near the Towne Lake Parkway exit in Woodstock. Thankfully, only minor injuries were sustained, and the accident was cleared by the evening, around 6 p.m. (Free: Woodstock PD via Facebook and Subscription: Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News)
