Ex-Woodstock Officer Arrested, Accused Of Stealing Personal Info: GBI
The former Woodstock officer illegally obtained the personal information of two people, state authorities said.
WOODSTOCK — A former Woodstock police officer is facing charges after being accused of illegally acquiring the personal information of two people.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Robert William Brown, 27, of Woodstock, and charged him on suspicion of three counts of computer invasion of privacy, making false statements to law enforcement and violation of oath by a public officer, the agency said Friday.
The Woodstock Police Department on Oct. 3 requested the GBI investigate Brown, accusing him of criminal misconduct, the GBI said.

"During the investigation, evidence revealed that while an officer at the Woodstock Police Department, Brown illegally obtained the personal information of two people, between December 2022 and September of 2023," the GBI said in a news release.
Brown was also accused of making false statements to the GBI during the investigation. The GBI did not detail what the information was used for and did not detail the nature of the personal information.

Brown was booked into the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center, the GBI said.
Once the investigation is complete, it will be given to the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office.
