Here are the top five stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:

  1. D'Floridian Cuban Cuisine & Bar, a restaurant out of Lawrenceville, has opened its second location in the Woodstock area. The restaurant serves Cuban and tropical-inspired food. It has a bar and offers live music and dancing. There is also a brunch on Sundays with bottomless mimosas. D'Floridian is located at 6242 Old Hwy 5, Suite A3, in the spot previously occupied by the Samurai Dragon Hibachi Grill. (Scoop OTP)
  2. A Woodstock man has been arrested for injuring two police officers in Cobb County. The officers had a car pulled over on the shoulder of I-75 near Barrett Parkway on Sunday morning when a driver, Ito Sakae of Woodstock, hit both patrol cars. One of the officers was pinned between his vehicle and the guardrail, and both officers were brought to Kennestone Hospital following the incident. Officer Gary Marsicek received serious injuries, while the other officer and the original suspect they had pulled over were treated and released. Sakae is charged with serious injury by vehicle, driving under the influence of multiple substances and for not moving over for emergency vehicles. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  3. After receiving 21 offers between June 6 and July 2, Woodstock's Brandon Rechsteiner has chose to sign with Virginia Tech for the 2023 season. Rechsteiner, who graduated from Etowah High School, received scholarship offers from all five Power-5 conferences and currently ranks as the No. 13 overall player in Georgia and the No. 22 point guard in the country. From a long lineage of elite athletes, his father and uncle were recently inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. (Fighting Gobbler)
  4. It's going to be Pumpkin Day at the Farm. Fresh. Market. Saturday. The Cherokee County Farm Bureau will be selling pumpkins and there will also be a "Guess The Pumpkin's Weight" contest at the market. You can submit your guess for $1, and the person with the closest guess wins the pumpkin. It'll be a great day to take a stroll down Main Street to see the scarecrows, too. Remember, you can vote throughout the month at the visitors center on Main Street and at select scarecrow creators' businesses. (Downtown Woodstock via Facebook)
  5. Congratulations to Woodstock's Tourism Manager, Kyle Bennett, for being named to Georgia Trend's "40 Under 40" list! The list is in its 26th year recognizing outstanding young leaders. It was noted in the list that Bennet's family has been in Cherokee County since the 1840s, and that he spends free time volunteering with Preservation Woodstock and Cherokee County Friends of the Library.
