Fire Destroys Home In Southwest Cherokee County
The brick home near Clark Creek Elementary School caught fire Tuesday afternoon.
ACWORTH, GA — An unoccupied home was destroyed Tuesday afternoon in a fire in southwest Cherokee County. Cherokee Fire and Emergency Services firefighters responded to the call of the fire around 3:30 p.m. in the 5400 block of Priest Road, which is located off Highway 92 near Clark Creek Road.
A caller told 911 dispatchers that a large amount of black smoke was coming from the Clark Creek Elementary School area. Crews arrived to find a one-story brick home about 40 percent involved. However, within 10 minutes, the house became fully engulfed in flames, as firefighters worked to put out the fire.
The home was destroyed, but Cherokee Fire Investigator Cheri Collett said no one was at the residence at the time of the fire and the house was abandoned.

Portions of Hunt, Clark Creek and Priest roads were closed to motorists until the operation was complete. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
