- The Cherokee County Animal Shelter and the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center has some great information for us about Pet Dangers To Watch Out For This Holiday Season. While we are all focused on celebrations, dinners and family, there is a real danger in pets ingesting non-food items. Tinsel, bows and ribbons, wrapped presents and candles can easily cause intestinal blockage that can quickly turn into an emergency, sometimes needing major surgery. Holly plants and berries, salt dough ornaments, poinsettias, ice melt salt and Christmas tree water are a poison danger. Salt toxicity can occur very easily in dogs, causing dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. Enjoy the season and keep the pets in mind. (Cherokee County Animal Shelter via Facebook)
- Lesley Carmichael of R.M. Moore Elementary School STEM Academy has been named a 2022 Teacher of the Year. Carmichael is a writing lab teacher at the school and has been educating students for 30 years. A district colleague praised the teacher, saying "She asks thought-provoking questions to improve student engagement, student accountability, student achievement and personal growth as a person and educator." (CCSD Press Release)
- A Creekview High School graduate can be seen in the upcoming, one-day theater release of the new movie "It's Christmas Again!" on November 29. The film features local Leela Owen, who has also held roles in "Doom Patrol" on HBO, "Just Beyond" on Disney+ and the short film "Bear Creek." Owen's real-life mother is playing the part of mother to Leela's role in the faith-based Christmas movie. Make sure to head to the theater in support of the CCSD graduate and her mom, it looks to be a great movie! (CCSD Press Release)
- Woodstock Arts is holding auditions on Sunday for their RepTouR, Repertory Touring Children's Theatre Troupe. They are looking to fill 5 positions within the troupe and some additional understudies. RepTouR travels to local elementary schools in the area for performances, so it is required that each member have their own vehicle.
