- This Veterans Day, the Woodstock Police Department is honoring veterans that now serve our community as officers with touching posts on their Facebook page. More will likely be posted today, but so far, here are some of the heroes we are extremely thankful to have on our side: Art Ogg, United States Navy veteran and current WPD Auxiliary Unit member, served our country from 1960 - 1965. Matt Carroll, United States Army veteran and current WPD detective, received the bronze star during his military service. John Haile, United States Marine Corps veteran and current WPD patrol officer, served our country for 10 years. Thank you for your service! (Woodstock PD via Facebook)
- Get ready for construction traffic - Hames Road is going to be closed to all traffic from November 28 to March 31. During the construction, traffic on Hames Road will be detoured via Highway 92, Trickum Road and Jamerson Road. The construction will be completed in phases, with phases 1 and 2 addressing the stretch of Hames Road from Highway 92, south of the RaceTrac entrance, to the intersection of South Jett Road. Phase 3 will affect Hames Road from the South Jett Road intersection to 245 Hames Road. Phase 4 will affect 245 Hames Road to West Oaks Drive, and Phase 5 will conclude the project with the stretch of road from West Oaks Drive to Jamerson Road. (City of Woodstock via Facebook)
- While all eyes are already on the December Runoff between Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker, there was a very important decision made here in Cherokee County this week. Barring any last-minute issues or inclusions, about 90.4% of our county voted to approve the continuation of the SPLOST program. The program helps pay for things we need in our community, like public safety equipment, recreation and parks, road improvements and more. (Cherokee County via Facebook)
