Here are the top three stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:

  1. A 22-year-old Woodstock native greatly impressed the judges on NBC's "The Voice" this week. Bryce Leatherwood's voice and rendition of Conway Twitty's "Goodbye Time" caused all but one judge to turn their chairs around to face him, the show's signal that a coach wants to bring a performer under their wing. He was praised by the potential coaches as having "an incredible voice," with John Legend saying "You sounded fantastic. I heard the richness in your voice." In the end, Leatherwood chose Blake Shelton, a fellow country singer, as his coach. (Taste of Country)
  2. Have you registered to vote? If not, the last day to do so is October 11. Here are some other important dates and tips for the upcoming election. October 17 is when early voting starts, November 7 is the last day to register for runoff elections, and November 8, the first Tuesday after the first Monday of the month, is Election Day this year. When you register, you don't need to select a political party affiliation, but you can if you choose. When voting starts up on October 17, you can find your early voting location online here. (CBS 46 News)
  3. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has been up to some great things with the latest crop of Public Safety Cadets. The cadets were able to work towards a certification in First Aid after taking a five-hour course with the Cherokee County Fire Department and Fire Explorers. The class also got to observe Deputy Reese working with a K-9. Coming up, the Criminal Investigation Division is going to show the class some of their skills. If you or someone you know is interested in a career in law enforcement, please reach out to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office at 678-493-4200 or via their website for more information.
