More Than 16,000 Vote Early In Cherokee County

More than 4,000 voters also cast ballots Saturday, Oct. 27, the first day early voting expanded to four libraries.

CANTON, GA — Voters in Cherokee County continue to take advantage of early voting options, as more than 4,000 residents cast ballots on Saturday at five locations. According to figures provided by the Cherokee County Elections and Voter Registration Office, 4,301 voters visited its office at 400 East Main Street in Canton and four libraries to vote on Oct. 27.

Broken down, 886 voted at the Elections Office, 621 at Ball Ground Public Library, 804 at Hickory Flat Public Library, 1,029 at Rose Creek Library and 961 at Woodstock Public Library. Saturday was the first day early voting was held at those four libraries.

As of Saturday, 16,990 residents have cast ballots in-person since the start of early voting on Oct. 15, according to Cherokee County. From Oct. 22-26, the county elections office had 1,216 voters on Monday, 1,338 on Tuesday, 1,343 on Wednesday, 1,264 on Thursday and 1,292 on Friday. Those numbers remain consistent with the turnout the Cherokee elections office experienced during the first of early voting.

Early voting continues at the elections office and the libraries for the week of Monday, Oct. 29, running through Friday, Nov. 2. Polls will be open at the elections office and four libraries from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. for voters to mark their ballots:

  • Ball Ground Public Library, 435 Old Canton Road, Ball Ground
  • Hickory Flat Public Library, 2740 East Cherokee Drive, Canton
  • Rose Creek Public Library, 4476 Towne Lake Parkway, Woodstock
  • Woodstock Public Library, 7735 Main Street, Woodstock

No voting will be held Monday, Nov. 5, and all polls across Cherokee County will open for Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6. If you are a traditionalist and plan to vote on Election Day, please note that you must vote at your assigned precinct location on Nov. 6.
