Here are the top five stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:

1. The annual Patriot Day Ceremony to honor those who lost their lives on September 11 is taking place Friday, September 9, in downtown Canton. The ceremony will be at the Public Safety Memorial at Rotary Park. Cherokee County E 9-1-1 Director Shane Bonebrake, who retired from the Woodstock PD in 2021, will be speaking. The ceremony will also feature music from the Cherokee High School Band of Warriors and Cherokee Fire Battalion Chief Cheri Collett. The Cherokee County Multi-Agency Honor Guard will present the colors. (Cherokee County)
2. A drive-thru flu shot clinic will be held at the Woodstock Health Center on October 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The shot is covered by most insurance, but for those paying out of pocket, the charge is $25 for a regular vaccine and $65 for a high-dose vaccine. 3. The Cherokee County School District (CCSD) held a question and answer session with Clark Creek Elementary School teacher Heather Honea. A fifth-grade math, science and social studies teacher, Honea uses STEM theories and methods in her classroom to further student's collaboration and critical thinking skills. When asked what parents can do to help their children in their education, Honea said that "parents can have daily conversations with students about the content they are learning." 4. Cherokee Recreation & Parks is offering two options for fall camp this year. "Fall Back Into Action Camp" is for ages 5-12 and starts on September 19 in the Rec Center at 7545 Main Street. Registration is open until September 14 at 5 p.m. "Outdoor Camp" is for ages 9-13, starting on September 19. Registration ends for this camp on September 15 at 5 p.m. (Cherokee Recreation & Parks)
5. The Reeves House now has weekly specials. It is a great place to sit and study or work and it also has great coffee. Today's special is "Wine Down Wednesday" with half off the price of bottles of wine. Thursday's special will be $1 off all Reformation beer.
