Here are the top three stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:

  1. The Canton Police Department is asking for help in locating a person of interest in a theft case that reportedly occurred on October 14 at Panera Bread in Downtown Canton. The incident in question involved the theft of a purse, the PD has posted pictures of the individual on its Facebook page. If you have any information, please contact the department at 770-720-4883 or luis.salas@cantonga.gov. (Canton Police Department via Facebook)
  2. The Cherokee County School District (CCSD) Superintendent Dr. Brian V. Hightower has been named one of four finalists in the running for the Georgia Superintendent of the Year award. The winner will be named in December, and that person will then be in the running for the National Superintendent of the Year award. Nominations for the honor come from the school board, education service agencies, business and community leaders and colleagues. Dr. Hightower has been with the CCSD since 2016, starting off as a teacher. (CCSD Press Release)
  3. The General Election is coming up next month, and November 8 is much sooner than it seems. Election Day is only 18 days away, but there's still plenty of time to fully delve into Cherokee County's online election information hub. The website has information on registering to vote, updating your registration, advance/early voting and drop box locations, unofficial daily counts showing how many early/advance voting ballots have been cast, sample ballots, Board of Elections meeting dates and more. The Georgia Elections Division has a more robust website for election information that includes candidate listings, but there's more to dig through.
