  1. Today is National Pie Day and Pie Bar in Downtown Woodstock will be open from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. to help you celebrate. At Pie Bar, today is also Guest Appreciation Day, which means you get a free slice of sweet pie if you're visiting the shop in person. There is a one-piece-per-customer limit, and the free slice of sweet pie will only be available while supplies last. As a yummy bonus, there is a one-day-only offering for you today - the debut of their new Midnight Snack Pie. Described as coconut, toffee, potato chips and toasted pecans in a cookie dough type textured filling, in a graham cracker crust, with semi-sweet chocolate and toasted coconut on top, it sounds like a dream! (Downtown Woodstock via Facebook)
  2. Cherokee Recreation & Parks is looking for volunteers for its Volunteer Trail Clean Up and Maintenance event Saturday. The park clean up program is a great opportunity for individuals, families and groups to give back to the county and to the parks we love. Saturday's group will be building a new trail at Cherokee Veterans Park from 9 a.m. to noon. Some tools will be provided, but please bring along your gloves, shovels and rakes if you have them. Click here for more information or to sign up. (Cherokee Recreation & Parks via Facebook)
  3. There's a Cherokee County School District (CCSD) Parent University session coming up on January 31 at Woodstock City Church. The discussion will focus on cyber bullying and social media and their impact on individuals and families. The panel will feature CCSD administrators, law enforcement officers and behavioral health therapists. Also, the film "Screenagers" will be shown to both highlight the impact of screen time on the younger mind and to offer solutions. The session is for students ages 11 and up and their parents or guardians. You can register here. (CCSD News)
