Here are the top four stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:

  1. Junior Officer Ezra King has been released from the hospital! Team Ezra took to Facebook to announce the eagerly awaited discharge. After battling a tough infection for the better part of a week and being unable to wake, our city's youngest officer is now, thankfully, on the mend. Ezra will continue his healing journey at home with his family. Also, 94.9 The Bull is holding an event today at noon down at the Amphitheater. They will be creating a wall, The Wall of Love, and are inviting everyone down to paint positive images for Ezra.   2. The Cherokee County Animal Shelter has created a Holiday Wish List for its donation requests. You can see the list on itsr Facebook page. Items on the list include paper towels, cat and dog food, dryer sheets, plastic forks and paper bowls. You can see the full list on the Facebook page here. The shelter also has wish lists on Amazon, one list is for general needs, one is for the PAWS pet pantry and the other is for shelter pet enrichment. (Cherokee County Animal Shelter via Facebook)
  3. Don't forget to vote for your favorite Scarecrow Invasion scarecrow before the end of the month. You can head over to the Woodstock Visitors Center on Main Street during business hours to cast your vote, each vote is $1, which benefits InSeason Woodstock, the IN WDSTK design committee responsible for downtown beautification projects. While you're there, pick up a Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt sheet to fill out. Friday evening, Downtown Woodstock released the top-10 standings on its Facebook page. You can click here to see the full list. The top 5, starting with the top spot, are Lights Up! Entertainment, Pie Bar, Diesel David Inc, Carriage Kia of Woodstock and Salon and Spa Vanessa.   4. Cherokee Recreation & Parks posted an update on the upcoming LB "The Buzz" Ahrens Recreation Center at 7345 Cumming Highway, Canton. The center is projected to open in early 2023 and will be a 33,000 square foot multi-use facility when all is said and done. When completed, the building will house two basketball courts, a cardio/fitness area, several classrooms, a dance studio, a banquet hall with a kitchen, a rock climbing wall and administrative offices.   • Yoga on Tap: beginner yoga session, the class fee includes a free post-yoga beer or coffee. Please bring some water and a mat to the class at Reformation Brewery, 105 Elm Street. (10 - 11:30 a.m.)
  • Art on the Green: art created by local artists will be displayed on the Green downtown with the option to purchase many unique items, including paintings, pictures, jewelry and other handmade goods. (10 a.m. - 6 p.m.)
  • Creative Corner, Kusudama Sunflowers: explore the Paper Cuts exhibit, then make your own folded paper art to create sunflowers. The event is for teens and adults at the Reeves House Studio, 734 Reeves Street. (10:30 a.m.)
  • Music Through the Years Social: for adults, enjoy music from the 60's to now, enjoy some refreshments, relax, chat and dance at R.T. Jones Memorial Library, 116 Brown Industrial Parkway, Canton. (11 a.m. - noon)

  • Taste & Brews Fall Festival: take in some live Southern music, food and beverages. Parking will be available at the park and in designated parking lots around the area.   • The Cherokee County Animal Shelter has many animals that are available to adopt during their free adoption event this morning. All available animals can be seen online here. Your future friend will be ready to see you starting at 10 a.m. today, please scan the QR code at the front door of the shelter. The shelter adopts on a first come, first served basis, so animals can't be put on hold. Adopted furry friends go home with their spay or neuter, heartworm and leukemia testing, initial vaccinations, deworming, flea preventative and microchipping already done, free of charge.   • Cherokee Recreation & Parks has opened registration for two upcoming classes. The first class is within the Therapeutic Recreation (TR) program for those with disabilities. The program offering a Thanksgiving Holiday Cooking class on November 10 for individuals ages 11 and up. You can register for that class here. The second class has only recently been added to the Recreation & Parks catalogue, Mixed Martial Arts is coming to The WREC from November 29 - March 21.   • Made Mercantile and the Woodstock Downtown Development Authority received the Small Redevelopment of the Year Award at the Metro Atlanta Redevelopment Summit.
