Remodeled Woodstock Walmart Highlights Upgrades

One of the new features at the store on Bells Ferry Road includes a pickup tower, which fulfills customers' online orders.

WOODSTOCK, GA — Walmart Supercenter at 6435 Bells Ferry Road in Woodstock has unveiled its newly renovated store, which includes the installation of a Pickup Tower and other updates to departments across the store.

These innovations are "aimed at saving customers time and money while testing new ways to integrate the digital and brick-and-mortar shopping experience," Walmart said Friday.

“This store has been pleased to be a part of the wonderful Woodstock community for more than a decade, and we’re trying to do our part to continually remain a good neighbor, and these enhancements help make that happen,” said Store Manager Tina McCrickard. “The updates to our store are exciting, and we believe our customers will enjoy their in-store experience even more now.”

The following are among the new and innovative features incorporated into the big box retailer:

  • Pickup Towers: Pickup Towers function like high-tech vending machines, capable of fulfilling a customer’s online order in less than a minute.
  • Electronics: Walmart has redesigned the electronics department to optimize for maximum customer enjoyment of the top brands, products and technology. The new department focuses on the electronics of the future, so Walmart customers are some of the first to enjoy the latest and greatest offerings on the market.

  • Hardware: The hardware department has been upgraded and includes a new tool relay which showcases large tools and tool carriers not previously offered.
  • Apparel: Space in the apparel departments has been refreshed and optimized to highlight the apparel collections and help customers find what they’re looking for quickly.

A grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting was held at 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5 with local leaders and stakeholders.

For customers using the Pickup Tower:

  • Simply choose from millions of items available on Walmart.com and select the “Pickup” option at checkout.
  • When the item arrives at your local store, an associate loads it into the Pickup Tower and you will receive a notification.
  • When you arrive at the store, step up to the Pickup Tower and scan the bar code sent to your smartphone.
  • You will receive your order in less than a minute.

In April, Walmart announced it expects to spend an estimated $38 million over the next year in Georgia through the remodeling of 11 stores, including the Woodstock location, as well as the roll out of several in-store and online innovations designed to further improve the customer experience.
