Here are the top five stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:
- Two Cherokee County family members tragically lost their lives in a Thanksgiving morning crash. Chris and Jennifer Mynes were traveling westbound on Knox Bridge Highway in Canton with their daughters Alivia and Sydney in the back seat when a Ford F-150 crossed the center line and struck the Mynes' vehicle. Chris, 52, and Alivia, 18, were killed in the accident, Jennifer and Sydney were injured and taken to the hospital. Alivia graduated from Creekview High School last year and had just finished her freshman volleyball season at Bryan College in Tennessee. Sydney is a current Creekview student and volleyball player. The accident is still under investigation. (WSB-TV)
- The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is asking for help in identifying and locating a man suspected of breaking into a vehicle and using stolen credit cards at a local Kroger. The man was seen breaking into a car on Thanksgiving, between 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., in Canton. Then, at around 12:18 p.m., the same man used stolen credit cards in the self-checkout lane at the Kroger on Hickory Flat Highway. If you have any information about the incident or the suspect, please contact the Sheriff's Office at 678-493-4080 or 9-1-1. (WSB-TV)
- Advance/early voting for the General Runoff starts on Sunday, November 27 in Cherokee County. You can head over to the Elections Warehouse, located at 400 East Main Street in Canton, on Sunday from noon until 5 p.m. This is a drop box location as well. Early voting during the November 28 - December 2 window can be done from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Elections Warehouse; the South Cherokee Annex at 7545 Main Street, Building 200 in Woodstock; or at Grace Community Church, located at 7770 Hickory Flat Highway in Woodstock. Drop boxes are located at the Elections Warehouse and South Cherokee Annex locations. (Cherokee GA Votes)
- The 26th Annual Christmas Jubilee & Parade of Lights is coming up next weekend. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. with a parade moving forward from Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill, travelling down Main Street from there to the end route at Sam's Club on Highway 92. The festival will start after the parade and will be held at The Park at City Center. Santa will be there to visit with the kids, the mayor and Santa will light the 30-foot Christmas tree and there will be tons of activities for the whole family. Enjoy the holiday festivities with a live DJ, vendors, food, cupcake decorating, crafts, hot cocoa, apple cider, a Polar Express reading and much more. (Woodstock Parks and Recreation)
- The Cherokee County Animal Shelter is holding a special adoption event this morning! The adoption fee is waived for any pet that is all black, mostly black, black striped or black spotted. All available animals can be seen online here. A QR code at the front door of the shelter will become active starting at 10 a.m. today, please scan the QR code to enter the "virtual line." The shelter adopts on a first come, first served basis, and animals can't be put on hold. For pets that don't fit the "After Thanksgiving Sale" theme, the regular adoption fee applies and includes the spay or neuter, heartworm and leukemia testing, initial vaccinations, deworming, flea preventative, microchipping and more. - Farm. Fresh. Market. is a great place to find lots of locally grown and created products, all in one spot. The market will be open every Saturday on Market Street in Downtown Woodstock until December 31. (8:30 - noon)
- College Football - Rivalry Weekend on the Green: there will be different college games showing throughout the day for your viewing pleasure, and there's a playground next to the Green for the kids. The event is free, but a bar with beverages for sale will be set up outside. (noon)
- Christmas Open House Artisan Wine Tasting: the official kick-off night for the Sparkling Nights of Lights light show and the only opportunity to view the light show from inside The Gifted Ferret, 1910 Eagle Drive, Suite 400. (5 - 7 p.m.)
- Jazz Night: take in the sounds of Jazz for free. Music will be playing on the back porch at the Reeves House, and there will be an outdoor bar with beverages for sale. While you're there, you can enjoy the current exhibit and grab some coffee and snacks inside during the event at 734 Reeves Street. (6 - 9 p.m.)
- Nicholas Edwards: playing live in The Listening Room at Rootstock, 8558 Main Street. (7:30 - 10 p.m.)
- Left on Main: playing live at Guston's Grille, 12195 Highway 92, Suite 156. (9:30 p.m.)
- Classic Goth Night: listen to classic goth, industrial and new wave music while playing games at the arcade. All games are free with paid admission, and there is a full bar at The Blue Ghost Arcade, 164 Towne Lake Parkway. (10 p.m. - 2 a.m.)

- Paint on the Patio, Inside Edition: for all skill levels, enjoy a guided painting session as you create your own piece of art. There is an option to purchase bottomless mimosas, and all supplies will be provided for the painting session in the Education Studio at the Reeves House, 734 Reeves Street. (2 - 4:30 p.m.)
- Yoga in the Garden: for all skill levels. Please bring a mat, water bottle and a notebook for a bit of reflection time at the end of class. The class is donation-based and will be held in the backyard garden of the Reeves House. (3 - 4 p.m.)

- A special doggie with a great name was named the herding group winner at the National Dog Show this weekend. The annual dog show is broadcast on Thanksgiving each year after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade but is taped earlier in the month. River, a German Shepherd that happens to call Woodstock home, was also the winner of the herding group back in June at the Westminster Kennel Club dog show. Congratulations, River! (NJ Advance Media)
- Don't forget, it's Small Business Saturday today. Downtown Woodstock is bursting at the seams with shop and restaurant specials, a contest to win a $100 Downtown Dollars Gift Certificate and the chance for some nice and happy holiday time with neighbors, friends and family under the sparkling lights and decorations along Main Street.
