Here are the top three stories in Woodstock-Towne Lake today:

  1. The Council for Quality Growth, the Cherokee County government and the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce are hosting a "State of Cherokee County Address 2023" on January 25. At the meeting, leaders from our county will discuss how we fared throughout the county departments in 2022 and what's coming up for 2023, and speakers will include CCSD Superintendent Brian Hightower, Cherokee Office of Economic Development President and CEO Misti Martin and Cherokee County Commission Chairman Harry Johnston. If you'd like to attend, there are ticket options for both council/chamber members and non-members. You can read more about the event and purchase your ticket here. 2. Students from Mill Creek MS, R.M. Moore ES STEM Academy and Clark Creek ES STEM Academy all brought home awards from the regional First Lego League robotics competition. Mill Creek MS and R.M. Moore ES STEM Academy won the Core Values trophy in their bracket, and Clark Creek ES STEM Academy won the Innovation Project award in theirs. The team from R.M. Moore also advanced to the super regionals based on their score. If they win at the super regionals, the team will advance once again to the state championship. Great job, kids! (CCSD Press Release)
  3. Woodstock Arts is holding the first annual Woodstock Arts Film Festival in the coming year. This exciting new festival will feature films made by local teams, using a list of items, words or themes provided by Woodstock Arts. The teams must also create their film within a total of 48 hours. The webpage states that updates will be made as the event gets closer, to include more detailed information and paperwork. If you have any questions, please reach out to brian@woodstockarts.org.
