Here are the top five stories today in Woodstock-Towne Lake:
- WDSTKtoberfest is coming to Downtown Woodstock. Enjoy Bavarian food and beverage specials from participating restaurants downtown, beginning with a keg tapping event on September 24 featuring Woodstock Mayor Michael Caldwell. On October 1, a pub crawl will start up at 2 p.m. where everyone can collect stamps from each stop to trade in for an event boot glass at the end. - The fall issue of The Towne Hall News is available online! Head over to read about the partial property tax rollback, pay increases for city employees, milestones and an event calendar. - There are a few spots available for sponsors and teams in the 7th Annual Woodstock Public Safety Foundation Charity Golf Tournament taking place on October 6. The tournament will be held at the BridgeMill Athletic Club in Canton to benefit Woodstock's police and fire departments. You can view the schedule and register for the event online. - There are also a few volunteer spaces yet to fill for Riverfest on September 24 and 25. The event will feature arts and crafts to see and purchase, scarecrow displays, games, bounce houses, a petting zoo, miniature train rides, a tailgating area with live football game broadcasts and more. - The History Channel show "American Pickers" will be filming in Georgia. Set to begin filming in December, the show about antique "picking" is looking for leads on potential hidden treasures. The show has put out the call: "If you or someone you know has a large, private collection or accumulation of antiques that the pickers can spend the better part of the day looking through, we would love to hear from you!" - Emma Hunt, a Woodstock local, finished third in the women's speed climbing competition in Edinburgh, Scotland on Saturday. The medal was her third of the world cup season, the two previous were silver medals won in May. On Saturday, Hunt defeated a competitor from Italy to take the bronze medal. (Team USA)

- Reminder: The Cherokee Career Expo is coming up on September 28 at 2 p.m. Employers and job seekers can register online. There is time for resume review and assistance before the doors open at 1 p.m. The event will be held at the Northside Hospital Cherokee Conference Center, 1130 Bluffs Parkway, Canton. - The free, annual Touch-A-Truck event is happening this Saturday, September 17, at Cherokee Veterans Park, 7345 Cumming Highway, Canton. There is limited parking at the event, so shuttles will be available at Macedonia Elementary School and Macedonia Baptist Church, both on East Cherokee Drive. (Cherokee Recreation & Parks)
- The deadline to sign up for the Cherokee Recreation & Parks "Fall Break Outdoor Camp" is this Thursday, September 15. The camp for children ages 9 to 13 will run from September 19-23. Head over to the website for more information. (Cherokee Recreation & Parks)
