North GA Could See Wintry Mix, Black Ice This Weekend

NORTH GEORGIA — Some light freezing drizzle is possible across portions of north Georgia, including the Atlanta metro, on Friday that could cause some patchy slick spots on roadways.

The slick spots would happen especially on bridges and overpasses. There have already been reports of this in parts of the area, according to the National Weather Service. Drivers should take caution.

While temperatures look to warm above freezing for much of the area by Friday afternoon, some parts of far north Georgia could stay near freezing with isolated slick spots to remain.

Light rain may change to light snow and light freezing rain across parts of northeast Georgia and east central Georgia Friday night through Saturday morning. Light accumulations are possible, so drivers should watch for slick spots.

There is a chance for light snow over portions of north Georgia Tuesday through Tuesday night. Otherwise, no other hazardous weather is expected.
