  1. Woodstock Arts has some great events going on this month, let's go through the next few in line. You can click the links for individual registration pages as we go. "Gallery Tour for Kids!" is on September 22 at 3 p.m., kids can explore the Paper Cuts exhibit with a guided tour of the gallery. The Rt's are playing as part of the Lantern Series on September 24 at 7:30 p.m. on the Green downtown. There are still tickets available, and make sure to check into series subscriptions. "Yoga in the Garden" is next up on September 25 at 11 a.m. Held in the Reeves House Garden, the class is for all skill levels. Please bring a mat and water bottle with you.   2. Cherokee County's 2022 Walk to End Alzheimer's is happening on October 29 at Etowah River Park in Canton. The walk will kick off with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. and all funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association. Please register online and sign the required waiver if you'd like to participate. Volunteers are needed for help with set-up, clean-up, registration, water stops and more, please take a look at the volunteer webpage for more information. (Enjoy Cherokee)
  3. Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services (CCFES) hosted the annual team meeting of the Office of Research Experiences and Education of Underwriters Laboratories (UL) on Monday. UL Xplorlabs Fire Forensics is an educational platform used in our county schools to teach middle schoolers and help build their scientific knowledge, passion and commitment. Firefighters from CCFES help the teachers administer the lessons and provide real-world examples of how it relates to fire and emergency services. (CCFES Press Release)
  4. The Cherokee County School District (CCSD) is looking for local partners. The district urges anyone interested in becoming a school partner to head over to their free informational event on October 13 at 4 p.m. to learn more. You can meet with school leaders while enjoying coffee and dessert.   • Cherokee County Senior Services (CCSS) offers free monthly caregiver support meetings. The next one coming up will be on Thursday, September 29 at 5:30 p.m. at the Cherokee County Recreation Center, 7545 Main Street, Suite 200. Head over to receive support, advice and the opportunity to hear other caregivers' experiences. The event will be catered.   • Would you like to "adopt" a local senior for the holiday season? Some of the gifts requested include grocery gift cards, a book of stamps or a new bedsheet set.   • Registration is open for fall swim lessons for children and adults at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center. Classes start up on September 26, please register online. If you are unsure of your child's level, the center holds a free skill check on the second and third Saturday of every month. Check the website for more details on the classes.   • Reminder: The North Georgia Health District is holding its Drive-Thru Flu Shot Clinic at the Woodstock Health Center at 7545 North Main Street on October 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Many insurance companies cover the flu shot, but the out of pocket cost is $25 for the regular flu vaccine and $65 for high-dose flu vaccines for those 65 and older.
