President Megan Dean, now past-president, presented Lion Jacque Stanly with our Lion of the Year award for ’24-’25. Jacque works tirelessly behind the scenes documenting almost everything we do as well as being a vital member of the Vision Committee. In addition, you will find Jacque volunteering at almost all events. Congratulations Jacque.
President Megan Dean presented Lion Karen Preston with a Melvin Jones Fellow. A Lions Melvin Jones Fellow is named after the organization's founder, Melvin Jones. It's the highest form of recognition awarded by the organization. Recipients are honored for their dedication, service, and contributions to their local Lions Club and community.
Our new President Stan Stanly presented Mariasantos Ulloa with a Tom Bingham Award. The Lions Tom Bingham Fellow Award is given by the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation to individuals, both Lions and non-Lions, who have shown outstanding dedication to service, particularly in the area of vision care for Georgians. The award recognizes those who embody the mission and ideals of the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, which is to improve vision for Georgians in need. The award is presented alongside a donation made by the Lions Club in the recipient's honor, and the recipient also receives a personalized award and pin.
Our guest speaker for the night was Lion Past District Governor John Rudder. He presented the Woodstock Lions Club a “Model Club” award. A Lions "Model Club" award recognizes Lions clubs that demonstrate exceptional dedication and contribution to the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). These clubs typically achieve a significant fundraising goal for LCIF, often calculated based on the number of club members multiplied by $500, according to tnlions.org. The award signifies the club's commitment to humanitarian service and its impact on global causes through LCIF.
The picnic was a great night of food, fellowship, awards, and recognitions. We want to recognize Lion Cheryl Hunton for all the hard work she did organizing, setting up, and breaking down this years’ picnic.
