Woodstock Man Convicted Of Molesting 3 Children, Sentenced To Prison
The man tried to flee from Woodstock but was arrested in Mississippi, according to the acting district attorney.
WOODSTOCK, GA — A 38-year-old Woodstock man was sentenced to prison after he pled guilty to child sex abuse charges, Acting District Attorney Susan K. Treadaway announced Thursday.
Treadaway said John Allen Bennett pled guilty on March 13 to aggravated child molestation, statutory rape, five counts of child molestation, criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation and failure to register as a sex offender.
Superior Court Judge Tony Baker sentenced Bennett to serve 25 years in prison without the possibility of parole, followed by life on probation subject to sex offender special conditions.

Bennett was accused of molesting three children between the ages of 11 and 13, with the initial allegation being made on March 26, 2022. He is accused of bribing one child, offering money or gifts in exchange for sexual acts.
He is accused of fleeing from Woodstock after learning he was being investigated and was arrested on March 27, 2022, in Mississippi.

“We are thankful for the investigation done by the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office, which led to the arrest and successful prosecution of this dangerous sexual predator,” Treadaway said in the release. “Through this plea, justice is served without subjecting these children to reliving horrendous acts in a trial. And, today, our community is safer with this defendant behind bars.”
