Woodstock Sonographer Charged With Sexually Assaulting Patient

WOODSTOCK, GA — A Woodstock sonographer accused of sexually assaulting a patient is facing charges, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

A medical patient told authorities she was getting an echo sonogram on July 31 at Wellstar Cardiac Diagnostics, where she accused the sonographer of sexually assaulting her.

"During the course of their investigation, detectives discovered evidence to support the victim's claims," authorities said in a news release Thursday.

Authorities said Bhavin Patel, 39, of Canton, was charged on suspicion of sexual assault by a hospital employee with a patient. Patel turned himself into the Cherokee Adult Detention Center Tuesday and was released on a $5,700 bond, authorities said.
