Woodstock Wins Award For Dean's Store Renovations
The city won the Historic High Country Travel Association's award for Best Tourism Product Development.

WOODSTOCK, GA — The city of Woodstock was recently recognized for its renovations of the Visitors Center at Dean's Store.
The Historic High Country Travel Association bestowed upon the city its award for Association Excellence for Best Tourism Product Development for its project. Woodstock was recognized Dec. 6 during the Travel Association's Legislative Outreach and Reception held in Cartersville.
Renovations to the space at 8588 Main Street included upgrading the restroom, adding a second restroom and installing a seating area with a modern sofa and mid-century style chairs. The plaster was also removed to expose the brick walls. The renovated space includes a new gallery area utilizing one of the original antique drug store cases. Temporary exhibits relating to local history and art will utilize the space.

The Awards for Association Excellence recognize, honor and promote efforts made in hospitality and tourism industries in northwest Georgia. A committee of tourism professionals reviewed submitted nominations and chose the winners.
The Woodstock Visitors Center has occupied the space on Main Street since 2001 under a rental agreement with Alice Dean Felton, the daughter of the store's sole proprietor. When Felton passed away last year, the Woodstock Downtown Development Authority purchased the store.
