  1. Georgia Cities Week starts on Sunday and cities across the state are celebrating the role they had in Georgia's history, economy and culture. Woodstock's celebratory events are kicking off this Saturday with the Greenstock Day Recycling and Paper Shredding Event, City Wide Yard Sale and Woodstock Police Department's hiring event. On Monday, April 24, there is a Touch-A-Truck event being held on East Main Street in Downtown Woodstock from 5 - 6:30 p.m. to help illustrate to the little ones how important our local government is. The next in the series is the Downtown Woodstock Walking Tour on April 27, where you'll see some of the unique and quirky things featured in the downtown area. You can see the full schedule of events at the link. (Woodstock GA News)
  2. The Cherokee Sheriff's Office has asked for the public's help in two of their recent cases. In case #SO23-004443, the Sheriff is trying to identify two people suspected of theft from a restaurant near the intersection of Highway 92 and Robin Road. The two were captured on surveillance traveling in a white box truck to and from the restaurant, though a date and time of the incident was not given in the Sheriff's post. Pictures of the individuals and the vehicle can be found here. Case #SO23-005360 involves a missing person. The Sheriff is trying to locate Lacey Ragsdale, 32, last seen at her Acworth home on April 17. She is 5-foot-five and 125-pounds, her picture can be found here. If you have any information about either case, please call 770-928-0239 or 9-1-1. (Cherokee Sheriff's Office via Facebook)
  3. A Tennessee man and his Woodstock mother have been convicted on charges related to their parts in the Capitol riots. Eric Munchel was widely discussed for bringing zip-ties into the Senate gallery during the riots, and he and his mother, Lisa Eisenhart of Woodstock, were both pictured wearing tactical vests during the attack. Munchel also had a stun gun on him that day. The two will be sentenced on September 8, though of the more than 1,000 people charged in the riots, 600 have been found guilty. Of those, around 450 have been sentenced to stints in prison ranging from a week to 10 years. (Atlanta News First)
  4. The National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) has renewed Cherokee Recreation & Parks' designation as a Better Sports for Kids Quality Program Provider. To earn or renew the designation, organizations are required to take quite a few steps to ensure a "safe, quality playing environment for children," including several items each within the categories of written policies and procedures, volunteer screening, coach training, parent education and accountability. Cherokee Recreation & Parks first received the designation in 2020, and has been deemed in compliance every year since. (Cherokee GA Communications Division)
