Would You Drink Beer at Starbucks?

The Starbucks Coffee Company announced several Atlanta locations will be offering beer and wine by the end of 2012.

is trying some new brews and instead of getting you pumped for your day with two shots of espresso, they want you to chill in the evening with a glass of merlot.

Select stores in Atlanta, as well as Southern California and Chicago, will be offering beer and wine to compliment food options in the evening by the year's end as a response to costumer feedback the Starbucks Coffee Company received.

The four to six locations in Atlanta haven't been announced yet, but the could be up for grabs.

This evening concept began in 2010 in Seattle, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, now with five stores in the Washington City area and one in Portland serving wine, beer and premium food that includes savory snacks, small plates and hot flatbreads.

“As our customers transition from work to home, many are looking for a warm and inviting place to unwind and connect with the people they care about,” said Clarice Turner, senior vice president, U.S. Operations in a news release. “At select stores where it is relevant for the neighborhood, we are focused on creating an atmosphere where our customers can relax with a friend, a small bite to eat and a cup of coffee or glass of wine.”
