  1. A Woodstock man wanted for public indecency has been arrested. The charges against Mark Stubblefield originated earlier this month when he allegedly exposed himself while in the Victoria Cottage Community. (The Georgia Sun)
  2. A fire broke out in a Cherokee County home early Thursday morning, destroying the home and displacing the four-member family that lived there. As the fire spread in the middle of the night, a young hero emerged from the tragedy. A 10-year-old resident of the home heard what seemed to be fireworks, but when he looked outside, he could see the home engulfed in flames and woke his parents. The cause of the fire is being investigated. (CBS 46)
  3. An outbreak of COVID-19 has temporarily closed the Cherokee County senior activity center on Univeter Road in Canton. Within one day, the positive cases rose from one to ten at an unprecedented rate. While previous variants have not affected the center's operations, the new BA.5 variant appears to have caused the shutdown. There have been over 720 new cases of COVID-19 in Cherokee County in the past two weeks. (WSB-TV)
  4. Rush hour traffic Thursday afternoon was impacted after a crash northbound on I-575. The accident near the Sixes Road exit blocked all lanes. (CBS 46)
  5. In the last year, 65,000 people have moved into the metro area spanning from Fayette to Cherokee. Cherokee County saw much of the growth at 2.5%, and is topped only by Henry County (2.7%) and Forsyth County (2.6%). (WSB-TV)

  • MadLife Stage & Studios has three performances today on the MadLife Grill patio stage:
    • Rich Gunderlock will be playing this afternoon. (noon)
    • Jordan Denton will be performing later today. (5 p.m.)
    • Mother Legacy will be playing this evening. (8 p.m.)
  • The Meatballerz food truck will be serving Italian food at Truck & Tap on Main Street Friday and Saturday. (4 p.m.)
  • "Art on the Spot" will be at the Reeves House Visual Arts Center this evening and every third Friday of the month. The event features local artists creating on-the-spot pieces. The art will be raffled off at the end of the evening. (6 p.m.)
  • "Wicks and Sips with Woodstock Candle Company" is taking place at Made Mercantile on Main Street. Food, adult beverages, music and candle-making will be offered. (7 p.m.)
