Cities including Hayden may be asked to take on more responsibility and costs under a new intergovernmental agreement now under debate. 
• NLFD conducts live fire training in Garwood area (cdapress.com) — Northern Lakes Fire District used a Garwood home for live-fire training while emphasizing that response times from its Hayden-based Station 1 and other locations still lag national standards for northern communities. The district is adding firefighters and planning a fourth engine company, but legal disputes over a new Garwood modular station are delaying full deployment of improved coverage.
