- A new firefighter with the Idaho Falls Fire Department, Dillon Chandler, rescued a mother and her three children as floodwaters rose outside their apartment in Cottage Place. The family was unable to escape due to the door being stuck by the water coming into the basement vestibule. The engine crew instead had to remove twin girls under the age of two, an infant, and the mother through a bedroom window. This call was just one of many for the fire department on Tuesday as heavy rain caused flooding across the city. (East Idaho News)
- The Field of Honor flags to recognize veterans on Memorial Day will be set up in Freeman Park. One thousand American flags will line the grass of the park, and each one is sponsored by a member of the community. The flags will be set up this Friday and stay up until Monday, after which flags can be purchased for sponsorship next year. All the money that is raised during the event goes to local veteran organizations along with other organizations that prevent child abuse, domestic abuse, and bullying. The Field of Honor event begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. (Post Register)
- A man has been arrested after allegedly pointing a gun at another driver who flipped him off, according to court documents. The victim was attempting to get on I-15 but missed the entrance ramp, so he followed Reynolds around a turn and down Saturn Drive where Reynolds then blocked both lanes and got out of his vehicle pointing a gun at him. When police asked Reynolds about the incident he said he became afraid when being followed, but would not answer when asked if he got out of his vehicle or not. After investigating, the detective deemed the victim's claim of a gun being pointed at them was credible, and Reynolds has been charged with aggravated assault, punishable by up to five years in prison.
