  1. The City of Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation Department has announced the invitation for the community to attend the ribbon cutting of Heritage Park, a highly anticipated 14-acre park. The event will mark the completion of the park's first phase and recognize the support and contributions from organizations, such as the Rotary Club of Idaho Falls. Once fully constructed, Heritage Park will feature various amenities, including nature trails, a playground area, and a stream designed for youth water play, all showcasing Idaho Falls' natural, cultural, and historical heritage. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Jun. 28, allowing the public to explore the park's recently completed features. (East Idaho News)
  2. As Independence Day approaches, the Idaho Falls Fire Department is urging residents to prioritize safety during fireworks usage. They remind the public that "safe and sane" fireworks can only be purchased and sold within specific dates in Idaho Falls. The department also emphasizes the need to avoid igniting fireworks near crowds, parade routes, or public gathering areas. They provide safety tips, including having water or a fire extinguisher nearby, closely supervising children, and being considerate of others who may be sensitive to loud noises. (East Idaho News)
  3. A group called "Parents Against Bad Books" organized a protest outside the Idaho Falls Public Library, displaying 24 books they consider obscene and unsuitable for children. The group believes there are a total of 52 obscene books in the library and is advocating for the implementation of restrictions and identification requirements for accessing such materials. The protesters, while denying any discrimination against LGBTQ+ themes, argue that the presence of these books exposes children to harmful content and are calling for parents to have a say in the library's board of trustees.
