🌱 Officials Respond To Viral Tank Video In Idaho Falls + Road Closure

- On Saturday afternoon, Jun. 17, a viral video posted on Twitter showing Idaho Falls police escorting artillery vehicles on Sunnyside Road in Idaho Falls had some locals concerned. Officials have responded and said the video shows the vehicles coming back to the armory from the training area and it is nothing to worry about. The video was posted on Jun. 17, but authorities said the video was taken on Jun. 14 after conducting annual training. (East Idaho News)
- Construction on Pancheri Drive and South Utah Avenue began yesterday, Jun. 19, and is expected to continue until the end of the week. Intermountain Gas is pulling a gas line under the Snake River, which will cause traffic delays, road closures, and detours. The community will still have access to all businesses in the area. (Local 8 News)
- On Saturday, Jun. 17, Just Ride Idaho hosted its second annual Free Family Bike Event at Melaleuca Field in Idaho Falls to promote cycling and bike safety. The organizers gave out over 400 free helmets and t-shirts, technicians provided safety checks on bikes, kids rode through obstacle courses, and participants enjoyed free food. The event ended with a three-and-a-half-mile family bike ride. Idaho Mountain Trading Co-Owner Davin Napier said one of the goals of the event is to give out helmets and promote wearing them. According to reports, 961 people died in cycling accidents in 2021 and most of them were not wearing helmets. (KPVI News 6)
