Here are the top three stories in Idaho Falls today:

  1. Idaho's Take Me Fishing Trailer will be in Idaho Falls for Memorial Day weekend. The trailer promotes fishing in the eastern Idaho area by providing services for people to get licenses and all the necessary equipment to have a fun fishing experience this weekend. When registering at the trailer, participants don't need to have a fishing license to fish during the duration of the event. If you are new to fishing you can even receive assistance in how to set up your pole and bait and cast your line. (Idaho State Journal)
  2. Pop culture and nostalgia event, Idaho Falls Retro X, was held on Saturday at the Idaho Falls Rec Center where vendors of video games, vintage items, and fans of the comic and game franchises gathered. The event was a hit seeing over 1,000 visitors by 1 p.m. Retro X allowed cosplayers to get dressed up and show off their creative costume skills which they wouldn't otherwise be able to do without traveling to different events in Salt Lake City or Boise. Many visitors were happy to see East Idaho was doing a pop culture event as the population continues to grow and the need for more attractions increases. (East Idaho News)
  3. Rigby High School student Hannah Clarke won the Zions Bank scholarship. By earning A's as part of the "Pays for A's" program, she was entered to win a $500 scholarship. Clarke brought in her grades from school and was paid one dollar per "A" grade she earned and each grade gave her more entries into the drawing for the $500 done bi-annually across the region. Zions Bank has been doing this program for students across Utah and Idaho for the past 20 years. (East Idaho News)

The department has been busy giving station tours, partnering with other regional agencies to do wildland fire training, and participating in Fill The Boot with Miss Idaho Falls.
