Coroner IDs motorcyclist who died in crash near Meridian high school (idahostatesman.com) — A 20-year-old Meridian resident, Landon Dela Rosa, has been identified as the motorcyclist who died after a crash Friday morning near Rocky Mountain High School on Linder Road. Police say his bike collided with a Jeep Gladiator near Cayuse Creek Drive, and he later died at a Boise hospital. Meridian Police continue to investigate, and no students were directly involved.

2. Meridian woman shares once-in-a-lifetime trip to decorate the White House for Christmas (kivitv.com) — A Meridian resident just brought some local Christmas flair all the way to the White House, after finally being selected for its elite holiday decorating team. Angie Olszewski spent three long days helping hand-light and trim 50 live trees, including a favorite in the East Room, calling it a once-in-a-lifetime, exhilarating experience she’d repeat in a heartbeat.

3. Leaving Idaho, chain closes Meridian restaurant that got rave reviews (idahostatesman.com) — A popular Meridian spot for banh mi sandwiches and boba, Paris Banh Mi on North Webb Way has closed after earning standout online reviews. The franchise is exiting Idaho, but another Vietnamese eatery, Pho 7 and Bubble Tea, is set to move into the same space, keeping a similar style of food available for local diners.

4. One Dead After Explosion in Lewiston Parking Lot (dailyfly.com) — A 61-year-old man from Meridian Douglas R. Petersen, was killed in what officials believe was an accidental explosion involving a U-Haul truck in a Lewiston Old Navy parking lot. The blast damaged nearby businesses but caused no fire, and investigators say there’s no sign of criminal activity. Authorities continue to examine stored flammable materials, including gasoline and propane tanks.
