- The Twin Falls Ad Hoc Committee is still seeking a plot of suitable land for the location of a recreation center in Twin Falls. Committee member Chris Sholes said in an interview with reporter Steve Kirsch that the committee has been exploring this idea for seven years. The committee's goals are to decide what to build, where to build, how much the building will cost, and how to raise the funds. Their hoped-for timeline is to have a presentable concept fully formed by the end of 2024. (KMVT)
- In response to increasing interest in renewable energy installations, the county of Twin Falls is considering imposing a moratorium on big renewable energy developments. The ordinance would block new projects for 182 days, similar to a previous moratorium on big farms. They think this delay will provide time for the planning and zoning commissions to evaluate any such projects as they are proposed. A public hearing on the matter will be held on Jul. 26 at 1:30 p.m. Comments to the public can be submitted to commiss@tfco.org by Jul. 24. (Boise State Public Radio)
- Sixteen food pantries in south central Idaho were the ultimate recipients of a large semi-truck load of food donated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints last Wednesday. The food was initially brought to the South Central Community Action Partnership in Twin Falls and will be distributed throughout their network of pantries and emergency food distribution organizations. Spokesman Randy Wastradowski said the donation was welcome and came just in time to replace dwindling supplies. (KMVT)
