Here are the top three stories in Twin Falls today:

  1. This weekend is the start of summer tourism which is expected to give Twin Falls and Southern Idaho an economic boost. A large draw in the coming months will be Shoshone Falls with snowpack and water levels being one of the highest they've been in years. The trail along the canyon is also a large draw since people see it by the falls and decide to walk along it to take in the views. Southern Idaho is also a hub for people in Northern Nevada and Twin Falls sees many visitors come for shopping and medical needs. (KMVT)
  2. Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone to be careful on the waterways ahead of Memorial Day Weekend. The Sheriff's office expects a lot of people to be out on the lakes and rivers in the Magic Valley and they want recreators to be mindful of the required safety equipment and the dangers in their areas before heading out on the water. This past weekend was already busy for officers, who issued numerous citations for individuals not wearing life jackets along with helping to aid in a rescue near Jackpot. Another incident where a rider fell out of a boat at nearby Murtaugh Lake sent the individual's leg into the propeller of the boat. The rider had to be airlifted by St. Luke's in Twin Falls to a hospital in Utah. (KMVT)
  3. The Police Department is reminding drivers to use their headlights from sunset to sunrise or it could cost them a $90 fine. Headlights also need to be used when you cannot see 500 feet ahead of your vehicle, which could be during weather conditions such as rain, snow, fog, etc. Daytime running lights do not count as headlights as the taillights don't activate until the headlights are turned on. High beams are also not permitted in city limits. (KMVT)
