Snow, Rain Possible Thursday For Chicago Area

ILLINOIS — After a mostly dry and cloudy Wednesday, a system of rain showers will move across the Chicago area on Thursday, also bringing some snow mixed in, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a 60 to 80 percent chance of snow and rain, mainly Thursday morning, for areas south and west of Chicago. Snow is expected before 9 a.m., before weather shifts to all rain.

Little or no snow accumulation is expected, according to the weather service forecast.

Rain will continue into Thursday night, and there is also a slight chance on Friday morning, before things dry out by late afternoon, according to the weather service.

Temperatures will stay around the low 40s, with a high of 43 on Thursday and a high of 42 on Friday.

"Dry weather returns for Saturday, but another weather system could result in light snow across the area on New Year's Eve," the weather service said.
