ILLINOIS — After a mostly dry and cloudy Wednesday, a system of rain showers will move across the Chicago area on Thursday, also bringing some snow mixed in, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain will continue into Thursday night, and there is also a slight chance on Friday morning, before things dry out by late afternoon, according to the weather service.
Temperatures will stay around the low 40s, with a high of 43 on Thursday and a high of 42 on Friday.

"Dry weather returns for Saturday, but another weather system could result in light snow across the area on New Year's Eve," the weather service said.
