These Are The Best Hospitals In Illinois, Newsweek Says In New List

ILLINOIS — The best hospital in Illinois is Northwestern Memorial Hospital, but 22 others are ranked in Newsweek’s first-ever ranking of America’s Best In-State Hospitals.

Every hospital in the country was eligible for the inaugural ranking for 2024, which includes 600 hospitals across all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

The results are based on four data sources, including surveys by Newsweek’s data partner, Statista, of doctors, hospital administrators and other healthcare professionals, as well as patients, and Medicare and Medicaid data.

The final scores were weighted on peer recommendations (32.5 percent in-state and 7.5 percent out-of-state), patient experience (17.5 percent), hospital quality metrics (40 percent) and implementation of standardized Patient-Reported Outcome Measures, or PROMs (2.5 percent).

The Illinois hospitals named to the list, along with their score, location and network, are:

2. Rush University Medical Center: 92.79 percent
3. University of Chicago Medical Center: 90.13 percent
4. Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital: 87.3 percent
5. Loyola University Medical Center: 87.2 percent
6. Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital: 83.61 percent
7. Evanston Hospital: 83.48 percent
8. Advocate Lutheran General Hospital: 83.33 percent
9. Elmhurst Hospital: 82.55 percent
10. Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital: 81.51 percent
11. Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital: 80.28 percent
12. Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital: 80.18 percent
13. Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital: 79.49 percent
14. Advocate Christ Medical Center: 79.08 percent
