Three IL Companies Among The Best To Work For In 2019: Fortune

ILLINOIS — Hilton is America’s best company to work for in 2019, according to Fortune’s annual list released on Thursday.

The Virginia-based company jumped to the No.1 spot in 2019 after placing No.33 on the list in 2018. Fortune writes that the company’s ascent is thanks to several employee-focused changes, including more comfortable work wear and upgrading spaces used by employees.

Three Illinois-headquartered businesses placed on Fortune’s 100 best companies to work for list.

The Illinois companies on the list are:

• Hyatt Hotels - The Pritzker-family owned empire was No. 32 on Fortune's list, down from No. 6 last year. The company employs 42,520 people and is based in Chicago.
• AbbVie - Coming in at No. 63 on the list, the North Chicago pharma and biotech firm climbed its way up from No. 97 last year. AbbVie employs 13,642 people.
• Crowe - Chicago-based accounting and consulting firm Crowe ranked No. 68, down from No. 62 last year. The firm employs 3,900 people.

To be considered for the list, a company has to have at least 1000 employees, according to Fortune. The list is compiled by the analytics firm Great Place to Work, which conducts a workforce survey where employees respond to over 60 questions. According to Fortune, the survey responses account for 85 percent of the analysis. The rest of the analysis is based on factors like people’s ability to contribute new ideas and effectiveness of leaders, Fortune explains. (You can read the full methodology here.)
