Algonquin, Lake In The Hills Halloween 2019 Trick-Or-Treat Hours

Halloween is fast-approaching and Algonquin and area towns are planning events for little ones to enjoy the holiday.

ALGONQUIN, IL — It will soon be time again for all the little ghosts, goblins and ghouls to head out for trick-or-treating in Algonquin and Lake in the Hills. As Halloween nears, the city officials have set the time for official trick-or-treating in local neighborhoods. Trick-or-treating hours in the Village of Algonquin are from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.

Over in Lake in the Hills, children will be able to trick-or-treat throughout Safety Town — the miniature town located behind the Safety Education Center, located at 1109 Crystal Lake Road — from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m Thursday, Oct. 31. Village officials invite you to bring your young children out for a memorable trick-or-treating experience.

But before Halloween's trick-or-treating fun, head out to the Annual Howl-O-Week Dog Parade Saturday, Oct. 26 at Towne Park, located at 100 Jefferson Street in Algonquin. The fun starts at 1 p.m. and will end in the Plaza on Main for the awards ceremony.

Awards will be given to 'Best Costume' and 'Best Owner/Pet Themed Costume.' Cost of registration for each dog is $5, and you can register online.

Over in Crystal Lake, downtown businesses will hold a "Halloween Handout" from 3 to 5 p.m. on Halloween. Participating merchants throughout the downtown area will have an orange "Halloween Handout" pumpkin flyer on the window at the business to let families with children 12 years old and younger know they can stop in for our a treat.

In Cary, the park district will host its annual Trick or Treat trail from 1 to 2 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Lions Park. There will be games, prizes and more and children and their parents are encouraged to dress up for the "spooktacular" afternoon.

Neighborhood trick or treating will run from 3 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31.

Tips for Kids:

  • Travel in groups or go with a parent.
  • Wear something that lights up such as a glow necklace or reflective tape, or use a flashlight.
  • Only go to well-lit houses.
  • Always go to the front door.
  • Do not approach strange vehicles for any reason.

Tips for Parents:

  • Parents should always inspect candy before it's eaten.
  • If you cannot join your child, know your child's trick-or-treat route.
  • Remember to turn a porch light on if you are home and will be handing out treats.
