Area Speed Limits Being Enforced By Lake In The Hills Police

The areas police are targeting during the month-long campaign.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — The Lake in the Hills Police Department is conducting a speed enforcement campaign through Sept. 30, with a targeted focus on Crystal Lake Road and Indian Trail, the department said. In the department's effort to "put the breaks" on speeding, police are advising motorists to drive the 25mph speed limit in these areas. In a Facebook post, police said they're targeting drivers who endanger the safety of others on the road by driving at speeds above the legal limit posted along the roadways.

"Our goal is not to write a lot of tickets, but to show drivers how speeding drastically increases their chances of being in a crash," police wrote. "Through both education and enforcement, our objective is to promote the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists on our roadways."

To help put the danger of speeding into perspective, motorists should know that Illinois is one of the top four states for speed-related fatalities in the nation.
