CARPENTERSVILLE, IL — A Carpentersville man accused of shoving cocaine into his mouth while officers served a search warrant at his home in November 2018 has been sentenced to 11 years in prison, the Kane County State's Attorney's Office said in a news release. According to the release, 52-year-old Lamelle T. Johnson agreed to the sentence Thursday in exchange for a guilty plea to unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Mark D. Stajdohar said Carpentersville police served a search warrant at Johnson’s home in the 1100 block of Chippewa Circle about 4:45 p.m. Nov. 2, 2018, according to the news release. When Johnson saw the officers approaching, he closed and locked his door, the release said. Once officers got inside Johnson's home, they found him in his bedroom shoving cocaine into his mouth, Stajdohar said. When an officer came toward him, Johnson threw cocaine in their face, the release said.

Officers found just under an ounce of cocaine with an estimated street value of $2,790, three digital scales with cocaine residue and $8,148 in cash in Johnson's home, according to the release.
