Ex-D300 Teacher Gets 112 Years For Sexually Assaulting Child
Charges against Bedoya are pending in five cases with similar allegations involving 11 more victims, the state's attorney's office said.

CARPENTERSVILLE, IL — A former substitute teacher and teacher's aide for Community Unit School District 300 and youth soccer coach for the Boys and Girls Club of Dundee Township has been sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a child he knew, according to a release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office. Kane County Circuit Judge Donald M. Tegeler Jr. sentenced 64-year-old Carlos A. Bedoya, of the 100 block of Acorn Lane, Lake in the Hills, Friday to 112 years in prison in the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC).
Bedoya faced a minimum sentence of 48 years in prison, the state's attorney's office said.
According to the release, Kane County Assistant State's Attorneys Sarah Seberger and Lori Schmidt presented evidence during the trial that between August 2015 and June 2016 Bedoya sexually assaulted the victim he knew, who was younger than 13 years old at the time. The sexual contact took place in Bedoya's home, at Spring Hill Mall and Golfview Elementary School in Carpentersville, where Bedoya was employed, the release said.

The sentence amounts to 14 years for each of the 8 counts, to be served consecutively, the state's attorney's office said. In addition to the prison term, Bedoya must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act, the state's attorney's office added.
"Carlos Bedoya is a predator who seeks out vulnerable children," Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said, according to the release. "His criminal behavior is appalling, and his interest in kids is only for his own perverted gratification. He belongs in prison for a very long time so he can no longer be a threat to children. My thanks to the victim who bravely came forward, preventing this defendant from harming anyone else, and to ASAs Seberger and Schmidt, and the team at the Kane County Child Advocacy Center for their hard work on this case."
