Firefighter Injured When Semi Hits Fire Truck On Interstate 90
The collision happened late Friday night on Interstate 90 in Huntley.
HUNTLEY, IL — A firefighter escaped major injury after leaping out of the way of a semi that collided with a fire truck along Interstate 90 in Huntley late Friday night.
The collision happened at about 10 p.m. at mile marker 48 when the fire truck, which had its emergency warning lights activated, was hit by the passing semi, according to a news release from the Huntley Fire Protection District.
The fire truck was at the scene of a collision involving a semi and van when the second crash occurred, authorities said.

One firefighter was inured in the incident and was taken to Northwestern Hospital in Huntley for treatment of minor injuries.
“The firefighter was attempting to get equipment from the fire engine when he saw the approaching semi and was able to jump out of the way before impact,” Huntley Battalion Chief Eric Bentley told the Daily Herald.

The semi driver who hit the fire truck has been cited for a Scott's law violation, according to the Daily Herald. The Illinois State Police are investigating the incident.
