Gilberts Man Found Guilty Of 5th DUI Offense

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A Gilberts man was found guilty of his fifth felony offense of aggravated driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, stemming from a June 2019 incident, according to a news release from the McHenry County State's Attorney's office. Patrick Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces that 57-year-old Patrick McArdle was found guilty following a plea deal before McHenry County Judge Michael Coppedge, and was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, according to the news release.

On June 30, Crystal Lake Police Department officers responded to a report of erratic
driving and found McArdle asleep in his, showing signs that he was under the
influence of alcohol, according to the news release. McArdle admitted he'd been drinking alcoholic beverages, and open alcohol containers were found in his car, according to the news release.

Members of the Crystal Lake Police Department investigated this case, and it was prosecuted by Robert Ladd of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s office, according to the news release.
