Man, 61, Killed In McHenry Co. Crash; 2 Injured

The collision happened on Main Street east of Vila Vista Street at about 6:45 p.m. Friday.

SPRING GROVE, IL — A 61-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash near Spring Grove Friday evening.

The collision happened on Main Street east of Vila Vista Street at about 6:45 p.m. Friday when a 2004 Volvo driving east on Main Street collided with a 2013 Cadillac Escalade, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The Volvo crossed into the westbound lane of traffic as it was approaching a curve in the roadway and collided head on with the Escalade. The Volvo came to rest on the south shoulder area of the roadway, police said.

The Cadillac came to rest in the north ditch area.

The driver of the Volvo, a 61-year-old Spring Grove man, was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital and was later pronounced dead. The driver and passenger of the Cadillac — a 55-year-old Spring Grove woman and a 52-year-old man — were also transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
