Man Killed In Fatal Stabbing Identified

The Kane County Coroner's Office has identified a 36-year-old man fatally stabbed in Elgin over the weekend as Sunday Ogunjimi of Elgin.

ELGIN, IL — The Kane County Coroner's Office has identified a 36-year-old man fatally stabbed in Elgin over the weekend as Sunday Ogunjimi of Elgin.

Preliminary results from an autopsy show that Ogunjimi's cause of death is consistent with a stab wound, according to the coroner's office.

Authorities were called to the scene of the stabbing in the 1000 block of Cedar Avenue in Elgin at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday and found a man with a stab wound to the torso area, according to the news release. He was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin where he was later pronounced dead.

Anderson Contreras, of the 700 block of Dundee Avenue in Elgin, has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm in connection with the Saturday stabbing, prosecutors said.
