Offers Of Help Pour In For Crestwood Condo Fire Victims
The Crestwood Fire Department will accept gift cards to Target, Walmart and supermarkets for victims displaced by the Dec. 4 condo fire.
CRESTWOOD, IL — Offers of help for the victims of a multi-unit fire last week have been pouring into the Crestwood Fire Department.
Last Wednesday,a fire ripped through a 12-unit building in the Carriage Manor Condominium complex at 5700 W. 128th St., Crestwood. The fire fully engulfed the building, rendering it uninhabitable.
People in eight of the 12 units in the building requested help from Red Cross volunteers on the scene. Four residents of the building were injured, including one critically, who remains hospitalized from smoke inhalation.

A couple who worked at South Suburban Humane Society, in addition to losing their home, also lost 15 cats they had adopted or were fostering.

While a lot of clothing has already been donated, the Crestwood Fire Department is now collecting gift cards for the displaced residents to Target and Walmart, as well as supermarkets, such as Jewel or Mariano's.
