Windy City ThunderBolts Kick Off Off May With Fireworks, Chewbacca, Fright Night
Windy City ThunderBolts announce promotions, theme nights and postgame fireworks at Ozinga Field for May.
CRESTWOOD, IL — Opening Night at Ozinga Field is right around the corner, when the Windy City ThunderBolts face their arch rivals, the Joliet Slammers on May 12. The Bolts have planned a whole month of fireworks, giveaways and special games featuring Fright Night, Star Wars and a salute to first responders and healthcare workers in May.
Thursday, May 12, 7:05 p.m. — Opening Night 2022: The first 500 fans 21 years of age and older will receive a pint glass courtesy of Lakeshore Beverage. Amazing beer specials served all night long. $1 Retro Beers (Busch Light, Natural Light, Old Milwaukee); $2.50 Bud, Bud Light, Mic Ultra, PBR, Old Style 16 oz. cans and draft. All Seltzers and Craft Beer selections are just $3.75.
Friday, May 13, 7:05 p.m. — Fright Night with Postgame Fireworks: Halloween comes early in what will be one of the scariest nights of the season. Wear your favorite Hallowen costume to participate in our pregame parade at 6:30 pm (must be in line by 6:15). Candy will be available throughout the park for trick-or-treating. Famous horror movie scenes will be played on the video board (not too scary). Watch out as lots of scary characters will be roaming throughout the park to keep you on your toes. Stick around after the game for the Bolts’ first fireworks show of the season.

Saturday, May 14, 6:05 p.m. — Crestwood Community Night with Postgame Fireworks: Crestwood residents and businesses from the ThunderBolts’ hometown to come out, watch their Bolts, and enjoy Ozinga Fields’ famous postgame fireworks show. All fans are welcome. The village will announce details for Crestwood residents on how to get tickets for this night soon.
May 18-19 and May 25-26 at 10:35 a.m. — School Days: Schools are invited to bring out their students to a special field trip at a baseball game at 10:35 a.m. The ThunderBolts will have an educational and safety presence at the game to enhance the student's experience. Ask about special unbeatable bus rates available for schools coming out to the ballpark. After the game, kids can run the bases with Boomer. Friday, May 27, 7:05 p.m. — First Responders and Healthcare Workers Appreciation with Postgame Fireworks: Come out to the ballpark as the ThunderBolts recognize EMTs, firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and members of the healthcare community on this special night that includes the Bolts’ world-famous fireworks show. Local departments and medical facilities will be part of this special night. Anyone who purchases tickets can have proceeds go to various charities. More details on this night to be announced soon.
Saturday, May 28, 6:05 p.m. — Star Wars Night with Postgame Fireworks: Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character, take part in a Chewbacca Roar Contest, and enjoy Star Wars' characters, themes, sights and sounds. Proceeds from ticket sales will be going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
